I received a new machine for my collection today. This is one I haven't come across before. The Electrolux model Z29 from Sweden. I've spent most of the afternoon cleaning it and polishing it up and here is the result. I am missing the small nozzle and crevice tool and need to find a proper cord for it. If I am correct the floor brush should have been painted black as well. The hose is a replacement of course. I think it should date to about 1938 but I am not certain.
Can anyone shed more light on this model?

I meant 'pre-war' not 'post-war'. |

Hi Walter
Yep it was the one on ebay a month ago. I've stripped it down and polished it up since I got it. Replaced the hose and added parts. It was made in Sweden and the rear cover is removable to access the filter. I think it would have been their lower model when the Z30 was out, which would put the date at around 1945-48, but that's only an educated guess. The motor is 230 W, 220 V. Doug Hi Steve Great find! I've been trying to find one of the Swedish machines for years. I have come across allot of 12's over the years but none made in Sweden. (They were brought in from Sweden from 1932 when Electrolux began in Canada to 1934 when they opened the Montreal factory.) Problem is they really didn't start selling them out west till after the Montreal Factory opened so we don't see them. The hose and bakelite hose adapter are replacements, as is the cord. The Rug Nozzle, Small Nozzle and Dusting Brush appear to all be original. The crevice tool appears to be a replacement as the original machines came with a chrome one with a brush head. The floor brush I am not certain about. I would have to see a close up but it appears to be a Goblin brush with the Electrolux elbow attached (The original would have been slightly smaller - the same one pictured above with the 29). You are missing the wands, Vaporizer and Sprayer for the machine. As well the Swedish machines also came in a wooden storage chest (Which was dropped when they began producing them in Canada). I'll post some pictures of My machine and others that have the appropriate parts tomorrow when I am on the other computer. Hope that helps. Doug |

Hi Steve:
This is the Canadian made version of the model XII. Yours would have had pretty much all the same parts as this originally except the rug nozzle (which is a Canadian / US version) and the crevice tool. The original crevice tool would have been the same as the one shown with the English model 25 in the second picture as would the storage box. PS The Accessory Kit shown in the first picture was strictly Canadian. It wouldn't have been with the early ones. |
