Recently, I have noticed a strange phenomenon with my collecting habits. Over the past three or four years, I have tended to acquire vintage toys in the winter, vacuum cleaners in the spring and have indulged one of my other obsessions, camera equipment, in the late summer and early fall.

Going back to the spring of 2014, I have gone on an annual vacuum binge, buying at least one machine and related parts and accessories and going back to August of 2012, I have bought a camera or two, along with a few lenses, filters, etc. The odd thing is I tend to have an easier time letting go of the camera equipment. The net amount of camera gear stays about the same year to year while I'm feeling overrun with vacuum cleaners.

The toy cycle has been completely disrupted of late as my dad has given me a huge portion of his collection to sell off, so my overall feeling toward toys has become much like that which one might have toward food shortly after gorging one's self at the Golden Corral buffet.

The fortunate side effect is that as I build momentum selling off Dad's stuff, I'm starting to throw some of my own stuff into the mix. Maybe in a few years I'll have the house to where I can actually walk in it.

Too many vacuums in the house

I know what you mean about having too many collections in the house.I live in a two bedroom house which I am going to sell in the spring./ But what to do with all the vacuums. There are 436 of them in here and in the basement and in the two car garage. I am getting so tired of tripping over them and falling down. Last month I feel down so hard on a Kirby I knocked myself out and gave myself a concusion. I will keep some of them but 90% of them have to go. I will list some of them in the supermarket soon. They will all be going for a song. I would like to see some other collectors give them a good home Most of them will be just $20 plus shipping..Dan
