I was walking around my neighborhood and saw a distinctive red handle sticking up in a neighbors yard. I peaked over the fence and saw a moderately neglected Kirby vacuum. I couldn't stop myself from walking by there repeatedly over the following 24 hours and finally went to the door and asked if they were planning on throwing it away. The older gentlemen who answered the door croaked, "TAKE IT!" before I even had a chance to finish my sentence.

I brought the Kirby home, washed the bag, cleaned, and polished it up. It works GREAT!

Nice save! Looks like a pretty bad bend in the handle. Glad you were able to straighten it.

It was nice of the old man to let you take it, even if he was a bit terse. My ex-father-in-law was like that, a master of concise conversation. He always said what needed saying in as few words as possible and once he'd said it, the subject was closed as far as he was concerned. It was a bit off-putting at first, but as I got to know him, I learned to respect that aspect of his personality for what it was and not read anything else into it.

Looks GORGEOUS ... but I can only get the first two photos to load...

Find that baby an original speckled grey bag, grey wheels, and grey cord with red plugs and you'll have a real treat! :)
