This is a really nice example of a USA made Windtunnel, very clean. Where were the Farrington models sold, I seem to think it might have been Home Depot? These are hard to beat for carpet cleaning.

Hi Rick,

Yes, as I recall the "Farrington" model was exclusive to Home Depot. I did also see some at an appliance store in Milwaukee, sometime in 2004 - however they could have obtained them as "closeout" or through some special deal from Hoover. I don't think I've ever seen one in that particular color - I remember them all being sparkly orange, and really pretty. I know there was the non SP Windtunnel, the SP Windtunnel, and I think there was also a 6-brush SteamVac Widepath in the orange color.

When we sold the refurbished Windtunnels at the Hoover store, they were all of the 'returns' from the big box stores, cleaned up and with new attachments and parts. The colors were always different, we'd never know which color we'd get when we opened the box. I remember opening about 10 boxes once, until I found an orange one which I bought and used for a bit, then gave away to a friend who needed a vacuum.

I agree, these Windtunnels are hard to beat for carpet cleaning - next to the Concept, I think it's one of the best cleaning uprights that Hoover ever made.

Thanks Fred! It's amazing how some things stick in the mind, and others are gone in a fleeting moment! Ah, the joys of getting old, but somehow managed to pull that info out of my mind's archives...scary.

These Hoover "Harringtons" remind me of a bizarre chapter in Eureka's history. This may have happened at the same time as the Harrington line-up. At some point in the 1990's, I began to see a select group of Eureka vacs labelled Christian Klingspor. These were "designer" World Vac uprights which also seemed to have only unique cosmetic features, like beige and green colouring. Not sure why Electrolux thought these would be a good idea...can't imagine anyone buying the vac because it had a "Calvin Klein" kind of label on it.

About Klingspor:
Christian Klingspor completed his studies in Stockholm and then worked for many years at Electrolux. In 1974, he founded his own design company, launching his own furniture line. Since 1985 he has been back at Electrolux as Design Director where he was responsible for setting up the in-house design department. (2004)

Any Vacuumlanders out there own one of these unique Eurekas?

I've only seen the Farrington line at Home Depot but only in bright orange like the one that HooverCelebrity posted!!

I have never seen one in that gorgeous navy blue. It's been excellently refurbished. Very clean. Just a shame it has the CWP brush roll and not the original Hoover style brush roll.

The unit looks identical to that of a standard line Windtunnel Supreme with exception of the rear wheels. I have never seen Windtunnel wheels that looked like those!! I wonder if they were rubber coated?

Neat find!
