I was wondering, is there any difference in the noise level or sound from a Hoover Portable or Slimline? I would guess the Portable might be a little quieter, because it has the plastic storage case on top, but from the base down it's basically the same.

My Slimline is a very loud vacuum, and I knew it would be because it's the Dial-A-Matic motor in a metal case with no plastic parts or insulation to quiet it. I bet the Portapower is loud too!

Slimline,

I have only ever used one out of doors, and never heard a porta power.
yes, the Slimline was noisy, but not any more than most cleaners of that era were I guess.
