this was a vacuum that my neighbours gave to me, just like some others in my collection. for some reason they put black paper round the bucket even though they only used it once before giving it to me. I have vacuumed the house with it and now its time to wet wash but I thought I would post a few pics of it in shampoo mode before I use it.
They might have felt like they were the odd one out when everyone had Vax 121's lol.
Anyways, we had the pet's version, the 6140. It was an okay vacuum, our family never really got on with Vax machines. Our's was powerful, but the plastic was fragile, back in the day when everyone had the orange 6131's they had tape in random places.
My Auntie used to have a Vax ultrixx bagless cylinder vacuum, always lost suction due to the filter in the bin and the suction relief valve went off after vacuuming 1 room and a half. She has a Henry now which is 3 years old and still going strong.
My Cousin bought a Vax power 1 bagless upright, didn't work very well. The suction wasn't very good and it was brand new. He already had a Henry but wanted another vacuum, so got a Dyson DC50.
My Auntie had a Vax 121, had tape on the hose and the vacuum didn't work well. Had to be replaced with the Vax power 6 cylinder, that worked crap so I gave them a Dyson DC14 Blitz it
If I had the chance, I would buy only certain vax machines, like the mach range (uprights) and air models, the turboforce and another one of these, they work well r are just nice vacuums so I don't mind those particular machines
