To some this may be obvious, for the rest of us without a service manual this may help.

The steel wands for the power nozzle are rusted inside on one of my machines. I am using Evaporust with a long refrigerator coil brush to take care of the rust.

I wanted to take the sheath apart to clean that as well. Behind the button to release the steel wand that attaches to the sheath is a tab. Gently lift that and the steel wand inside the sheath slides out.

All these years I had never taken mine apart till the other day, slid out like it was new.
