I had just spent six dollars for a new light bulb for my Heritage II Kirby. I replaced it because the old bulb was blinking. Now it does not work at all(after I installed the new bulb). I am quite sure it was installed correctly. What could be the problem? Is the socket mechanism worn out? After all; the vacuum was made in 1986, and that part is probably the original.

Try bending the tab up which is in the middle on the bottom of the socket. Or try another bulb brand.
