I was looking at that's at night, I have 3 versions so I don't really need another one lol, it is a discovery but a different color basically, these machines are great cleaners! VERY durable, can be used commercially and will last forever!

That's a nice-looking cleaner--a great gift for yourself!

John (tig21er), a Aerus/Electrolux associate who has been selling for around 60 years (following in his father's footsteps) gave some information on the Special Edition series in another thread which I share with you here.

While John wasn't able to nail down specific years, they were sold sometime in the late 1980s for a couple years at fairs and trade shows--which is why they were named Special Edition.

As mentioned in a previous reply, your cleaner was basically a rebadged Discovery upright. In fact, your upright model was sold under different names and colors including Discovery II, Discovery III, Discovery Advantage, and Regency Series.

According to John, Electrolux Corporation had attempted at the time to expand its customer base by selling different lines of cleaners (typically the same models with different names and colors; although some different models of the same basic designs were also sold) through varied consumer venues which included: deluxe direct (aka door-to-door), premium department store, exhibition, and media (catalogs and QVC). As near as I can figure, these lines continued until around the time that Electrolux LLC became Aerus LLC in 2004. At present only the original direct sales line exists.

The units pictured in the ad below (also originally scanned and uploaded by John) are the Model 2101A Shampooer/Polisher; the Model 2100 (automatic tank), and the Model 1572E upright. There was also a fourth machine in the set which was not included in the photo: the Model 1623 (manual tank). The "manual", "basic", or "economy" models were typically not promoted in advertisements as they were back-ups in case the others didn't sell.

Enjoy your Model 1572E/Special Edition upright!

Speaking of

Discovery's would any one happen to know where I could possibly get a new bag door cover to replace the one on my current Discovery?

Re: Replacement Bag Door; Link

I would suggest that you check with your local or metro-area vacuum cleaner stores to see if they have any Discovery parts from trade-ins--if you have one that's been in business for several decades or more it would be a likely candidate. Checking with an Aerus franchise in your state (you probably don't have a local one) is another option.

Here is the link from the thread I referenced above: www.vacuumland.org/cgi-bin/TD/TD-...

Well, the only way if you will appreciate it, is that you have the hose and the attachments. That is, if you already have the it all.
