I swore I wasn't going to buy any more vacuum cleaners, but this was too good to pass up. Went shopping with Ms. Tania and gang this Sunday. Brand spanking new in the box. We have been aware of this machine, but finally, the time was right. She's a beauty. I bought one new about 1979-80 but wasn't really enamored of this machine and got rid of it. I am aware of the engineering issues with the paper bag assembly, but decided it was time. Blue is my favorite/signature color. Was going to switch out the paper bag assembly, but decided to keep it original. It will definitely be used.

If I Had To Pick A Favorite

It would be the Classic III. Bought new in '76. Of all the machines bought and sold, I have kept this one. Sent in to Cleveland for a rebuild and bag conversion. Kept up in my bedroom closet for cleaning the second floor of Tarantula Arms.

Fred,

Wow! I wonder how you managed to get that NIB Tradition, considering its price tag in recent years?

That Tradition is a beauty! If I remember right, it's the only blue Kirby, and the only one that had a toolbox type attachment caddy. The other ones in the pic behind it look great too!
Think I agree with you on the Classic III being my favorite Kirby. Yours is also a beauty, and mine is the newest, most powerful, and most complete of all my Kirbys. I have everything except the Handi-Butler, and it is frequently used as the driver around here. It also has the same bag conversion as yours. Here's a pic.

Scored a brand new Kirby Tradition

Fred,
What a beauty! I was SO tempted when I talked to Tania last week but I have stopped using my Kirby. That is really a wonderful example and love the color!
I know you will appreciate a fine machine in perfect factory new condition.

Nice kirbys everyone. I think the classic 3s are beautiful the red and shine go so well together. I have a soft spot for the classics, I like the brown with the gold bag. I'll post pictures when I get it out to work on.

Still Trying to Find a NIB Tradition...

kirbytradition7's profile picture
I'm still trying to find a NIB Tradition myself.

Once a person responded to my Calgary Kijiji want ad in 2012--that turned out to be a scam (I never got the vacuum after I sent $240 to the guy).

Later, Tania tried to locate one for me, unsuccessfully (the seller wanted way too much for the Traditions he had; he had a bunch of them).

So my search continues.

I am moving away from Calgary soon, most likely back to the USA (or the UK, a slight possibility) for my next craniofacial research fellowship.

I have three

to list soon in Supermarket. They are not NIB, yet, all original. Thet'll clean up nicely. They are currently among the "cellar dwellers".

I scored one too! It'll get here Thursday. I can't wait!
