Are there guidelines for hosting? I've got little if anything of interest to others (yet) but all the meets seem to be fun. Is it usually pot luck or host provided (no problems there!), are there adult beverages?

Oh I'm sure there's all kinds of beverages, it mainly just depends on if there's kids around or not! tongue-out

Usually at a meet,

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
one has displays, a repair "clinic" or "how to" session, perhaps a trip to a notable local vac shop, a contest, food, fun, photos, a sale, buy, trade, swap....a giveaway "pile" or sale area.

Some meet at a local restaurant, some might bring a dish to share, some hosts prepare the food. Sodas, coffee, tea, perhaps 'iced tea" are served. As far as "adult beverages", it all depends on if there are ANY underage guests, if there is a lot of driving, etc.
No one ever drinks in my home, so, that's out here. (some people think I have or had a drinking problem. NOT true, I simply don't have it here, (for many reasons). I usually cook something fun. Sometimes, (Summer), it's a cook out (barbecue), sometimes, it's a crockpot dish, sometimes I use the Lenox (depending on mood, time, theme, and attitude).Once, I used Lenox china I was accused of "showing off" THEY never returned. I used to take my friends to a vac shop. I've stopped that. If there is a nice local attraction, you might visit there.
Rules at my home are: NO ONE smokes (most people don't anyway), IF a door is closed, it's closed for a REASON. Some vacuums are to be looked at, some to be played with. The cats, Arthur and Murphy come down from their apartment after things calm down. They are my beloved cats. EVERYONE always makes a fuss over them.
Lots of photos are taken and posted. I can share a few from past meets at my home. THe general rules are: do what
you want, are comfortable with, etc. I've had a few friends stay overnight. THat's always fun, too.
This is just what "I" do. hope it helps.
John.

The most fun part -- for some people -- is going off and snooping through the host's dresser drawers, bathroom cabinets and bedroom closets, and then, afterward, gossiping about any delectably decadent discoveries one may have come across.

Note to prospective hosts: Make sure to lock up anything you don't want seen; otherwise it =will= be seen. And talked about!

That's why I hide the keys to the handcuffs. It helps identify the quilty (or perhaps just playful...)

John, it was through someone attending your meets that I learned a plethora of things. Some people ignore closed doors and see them as an invitation. And, what I learned, well, no wonder you would blush! embarassed I won't reveal anything here..........wink  But, for heavens sake, lock the doors next time and especially your dresser drawers!

No wonder there's so many vacuums around. Maybe they should have a wet vac....for just such an emergency 😷 or maybe that's what was in the dresser too??!!! 😇

Actually, once, I DID set a trap. My room has soft white carpeting. If you run the HOOVER nicely, it leaves the most perfect lines. i vacuumed myself out of the room. Later, I saw footprints.....revealing that someone indeed was in there. Everyone looks in closets and medicine cabinets. Why do you think there's a safe in one of the closets (combination is a riddle).
