I just brought out a Hoover Convertible Estate out of storage. I bought it some time ago for $5.99 and it immediately went into storage. Now its out for a good cleaning. My question is about the tool set for this vacuum. I think this is either the first or second model to use the front conversion power seal converter. Was the wand and curved end of the hose in white plastic or were they still alunimum? I have an extra set of tools with the plastic wand and thought i would pair them with this vacuum.
Thanks! Marty

The first fromt conversion tool sets had an hose with a suction regulator and a separate curved aluminum wand. The 2nd version of tool set still had the curved aluminum wand yet there was no suction regaultor. What you have is the third version of the tool set with the plastic wand. The fourth and final version of the tool set had all friction fit tools.
The picture is of the 1978 (1st Generation Power Seal) version of the tool kit.

I think that you are right on with your description of the U4901 cleaning tools. I much prefer the set that you picture. I like the feel of the vinyl hose. The older rear conversion tools are much more fun and easier to use though. I have always had trouble connecting the front converter to the cleaner with it running. Either way, neither type offers much suction for those tough jobs. In that case I reach for my Electrolux...GASP! (not a Hoover!)
