Went to the charity shops to-day, and found this gem in Goodwill. Brand new 1984 Bissell! No box, but all paperwork, total cost--$8.51! It has a light film of packing dust, the plastic floor tool has clear plastic or vinyl brush and a little wheel on the back. The dates on the paperwork say 1978, '80, '82, and '84, so I'm putting it at 1984. It either sat on display somewhere for 23 years, or just got yanked out of the box to sell. It is the only unused item I have found in vacuums, and it'll stay that way. Anybody here have this model?

I haven't turned it on yet. It doesn't have a speck of household dirt on it at all. I'll turn it on soon and try the suction.

I tell a lie,

I don't investigate in depth when I should, the vacuum had been used long enough by whomever and the bag has lint and dust in it, but not sand. The tools, including the floor tool, have no sign of wear at all, and still had light dust of some sort on the body. It has above average suction, but it probably couldn't pick up a bowling ball. I don't think the handle on the front of it would stand up to years of use. I'd still like to know who here might have one.
