I recently went to a local vacuum cleaner store and happened to park next to its waste receptacle which was full to the brim. On the top were a couple brown PN-4s--or so I thought--so I grabbed them. I can only imagine what else was in there!

Anyway, on closer examination, I noticed that one of the power nozzles had a 3-prong pigtail connector. Then I happened to look on the bottom plate and noticed something that I had not known existed ... a PN-4C. I am taking for granted that the 'C' is the designation for 'Commercial'.

My question to John, Jimmy, or whomever is whether there was a PN-1C, a PN-2C, a PN-5BC, and a PN-7BC? Several weeks ago I discovered that there was a PN-6BC. I will also take for granted that all the commercial power nozzles have been 3-prong. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

In addition, I am curious to know which Electrolux USA commercial tanks were designed to be wet/dry vacs. I'm pretty sure I read that the CA was, but I can't remember if any of the CBs were.

Electrolux Commercial

The CA had an optional wet pick up tank that dropped into the bag compartment. The early CB also had an optional wet kit with a float ball. Both had rubber hose and squeege nozzle available.
But it was the Power Nozzle that made both more suitable for nicer, carpeted areas such as churches, offices, stores, theatres, etc than factory or industrial buildings.
The CA used 2 wire PN with 2 steel wands with spring latch. The PN 1 for CB and all later were 3 wire.Early CB used a standard 3 wire outlet changing later to the 3 round pins. All PNs had a comm version available sometimes with stronger bottom plate and 3 row brush. All would have slightly different model no but I think PN-2 version was called PN-3.
Others feel free to add more.

The three wire

hookup was different from the hookup on the CB three round pins. I will find the cord I have and post it. It is a brand new hose strap on cord.

Thanks for your response, Jimmy and John.

The reason I'd asked about what models/versions were wet/dry vacs is because I've recently seen a teal-colored CB that had a plastic liner in it.

John, looking forward to your pic.

Hoping that others will be able to give the model designations and post other pics of the commercial pns. Ray? Christopher?

I just found this on an eBay listing of a gray Model 1453, reference to a PN-4B. Can anyone tell me how it was different than a PN-4A?

Also, did all the 1453s bear the label, or when did the PN-4B get introduced? Did other machines have labels like this?

The P/N 4 B

would be the power nozzle that came out on the Olympia One. After the start of the run the power nozzle changed and had slits in the bumper and a change in the bottom plate. The reason was to have airflow for the power nozzle.
In the mid 50's wall to wall carpet was becoming very popular. At the time all carpet was jute backed. Vacuums could seal to the carpet and air would come thru the giving the cleaner sufficient air flow to clean. With the return of hot water extraction(so called Steam Cleaning) carpets were browning do to the jute back. To counter this carpet manufacturers came out with a moisture barrier to prevent the Jute from bleeding. All the manufacturers of vacuum cleaners had to make changes. Kirby put notches on their bottom plate. Electrolux did the slits in front and changed the bottom plate on P/N 4.
