I have been on a search for this machine for YEARS! finally a couple of months ago my search had ended, I called a good friend of mine and Described this machine to him and he said that he had found one at a local estate sale. I asked him if he wanted anything for it, he said I could have it. this kenmore was the start to my collecting of vacuums and also is a very sentimental machine indeed. my mother in 1987 had received this same machine as a gift at her bridal shower and me being born in 89' have always been fascinated by it.

Interesting find. These must be rather uncommon. I had seen these in gray in early 90s catalog (and my neighbor used to have one) with metal wands and hose end and different style PN. I did not know they had an earlier plastic wand version in beige/brown. It should use 5045 bag, now known as Type H. They also had a straight suction version with Sears plastic rug nozzle and cheaper attachments.

Have fun with it, looks to be in great shape.

it does seem to be in good shape, and it is funny because the last time I saw the machine it was back in 95' at my dads and I thought the power head would have wheels but remembering back it didn't lol. the attachments seems to be cheaper of those found on higher end kenmore machines but still have some quality to them. the power head is kind of cheaply made and if memory serves me right when my mother and father lived together the power head had an issue with getting really really hot. I also think the brushroll bearings went bad too. other than that the hose is perfect without a tear and the machine has a decent amount of power. it will be fun to play around with it again! :)

My mom had one of these but the cord for the power head was external and strapped to the hose.  She hated this vacuum. With in six months the power nozzle burnt up and the plastic tubes would not stay together.  We had to duct tape tubes. That was the last canister she had.
