If there is anyone that might have at least one Kirby 500505 4-row 13" brush roll for sale, please reply to this board.

This brush roll that I want is for my Kirby Dual Sanitronic 80, although its original applications were the Comvac 1300 and the Kirby Heritage/Legend series (those units with the small 13" nozzle).

Ball bearing construction is preferred (so the knurled belt can be used w/o issues). Otherwise, if it has sleeve bearings (as it did originally) I will use the soft belts on this.

I am in the 97267 area of Portland, OR.

Thank you,

Ben

Andy,

Yes, I visit eBay from time to time.

I posted this ad because I knew Kirby deleted the product from its roster of replacement parts. It was originally the brush roll supplied for the Comvac model CV1300 as well as the 13" nozzle version of the Heritage I, II, Legend and Legend II.

The one I want is the one with the ball bearing construction, since that is supposed to last longer than equivalent brush rolls using sleeve bearings. Until the mid 1990s, Kirby made all its brush rolls for its legacy products using sleeve bearings. Ball-bearing rolls can be distinguished from the sleeve-bearing rolls by the absence of plastic thread guards on both ends of the roll.

Ben,

Your reply brings me to a question. A couple years ago, I replaced the original, worn brushroll on my D80 with a 4 row brushroll. It's been a while since I've looked at it, but if memory serves, it's a sleeve bearing unit. At the time, I replaced the belt with a knurled belt. What's your opinion? Should I be using a smooth belt with this brushroll instead? I never use the D80 for daily use. It's really just one of my "show" pieces in my collection. I only take it out and run it once in a while to exercise it.

Andy,

Yes, you should use a smooth belt (159056 or 301289) with any sleeve-bearing brush roll. Knurled belts were not originally available until over a year after the Generation 3 was introduced.

I always use the smooth belt on the original 2-row brush roll that came with my Classic III.

Andy,

I also want to say that I'd love to have one of these regardless of its design. I have both kinds of belts so I'll know exactly which one to use depending on the construction of the brush roll.

The Kirby # 500505 Ball Bearing Brush Roll 4 Row/13 inch nozzle is still available from Kirby. I had one and traded for a 2 Row brush from the dealer about a week ago.

Kirby still used the older sleeve-bearing and silver-painted brushes on VERY EARLY production runs of the Generation 3, then the knurled belt came out a few months later! Hooray!

Alex,

I know very well. I'd like to find either version of the 500505 brush roll (sleeve bearing or ball bearing). If it's the sleeve-bearing version, I will definitely use the 159056 belt, or the 301289 polisher belt.

Ben,

the ball bearing version is still produced by CWP for Kirby and is widely available on the net. A quick search found it priced from 17-25 dollars retail and $13 wholesale.

Tom,

Do you mean the 1525 single-bristle roll or the 500505 double-bristle roll?

Tom,

Thank you. It should be known, though, the original sleeve-bearing version (same part number) actually had the brush bristles in a 180-degree helix whereas the current version puts them in a 90-degree helix.

Ben,

Thanks,  I learn something every day here. I am by no means a Kirby expert, I only have 2, one Sentria II and a very recently acquired D50. Learnin as I go.

Ben, On my recent visit to CWP during the convention, they had 2 of these brush rolls on the peg board display in the show room. I didn't ask if they were still produced or if they were willing to sell one on display, but there is 2 of them there.

Go to onlinevacshop.com Click on the kirby bags. Wait for the page to load. Click on the belts brush roll section towards the top of the page. When that loads scroll down to what you've been looking for

I would call before ordering and ask them to visually check their inventory. While some sellers list it, they're actually sending out the two row.

Exactly. That happened to me when tried getting one off of eBay last February.

Clayton,

It might be but I would suggest sending them an e-mail so they can make a visual check in their inventory, to be sure it is in fact the correct one.

I'm still looking for one - now two - because I want one not only for my '69 D80 but also for the Heritage II 13" nozzle.

Same part no. 500505, and ball bearing construction.

As usual, please e-mail me, or call me at 503-659-9762 if you have one. I am preferring to pay $40 for two quantities.

Thank you,

Ben

BUMP

I'm now wondering whether anyone who did buy one of these brush rolls recently might still have one because it was never used due to lack of interest?

Thank you,

Ben

Thank you, but I have already bought mine two weeks ago from a place called Discount Cleaning Products for just $12.24. It arrived just last week, and was the right one as described.

Is there any other place to find this particular brushroll as of today? Can't seem to find this available anymore.
