Fred invited us to Chicago for another fabulous get together at Tarantula Arms!! In attendance are Fred N, of course -- and Charlie, Tania, Greg, Dan, Robert, and myself. Started out last night making cinnamon rolls... Yummy!

Check out this beast that he uses to unclog people's central vacs... He needed to swipe some wire out of the cord for the Filtex.

Meanwhile... Greg and Robert were hard at work swapping the newer KitchenAid back to the old KitchenAid now that Fred is staying here in Tarantula Arms.

We took a que from the PA contingent, also having a party tonight (brilliant idea, BTW) and put to use some of the extra hoods that were laying around... Cracker and artichoke dip, anyone?

Come On Guys

You know we always have a great time at these gatherings.  Someone recently asked where the name Tarantula Arms came from.  Charlie named the house.  The most well known literary reference is from "A Streetcar Named Desire."  A dive hotel where Blanche DuBois stayed:

"So she makes a clean confession of it. She refers to the Flamingo Hotel as “The Tarantula Arms,” the place where she, a “big spider,” brought her “victims.” “Yes,” she says, “I had many intimacies with strangers.” She explains bitterly that, after her husband killed himself, this was all she had to turn to for comfort."

A shot from dinner Friday night.

A swellegant, elegant time was had by all.

Did you give guided tours of Works in Progress, a.k.a. the master bath?

After all the vacuums have been played with, the dishes washed and the linens pressed, (Miele mangle), and folded?

Rearrange the living room around Ida's new couch and portrait of me above the the chest in the front hall. Tres fabu!

Most Have Left

Dan Charlie and I are left here.  Dan played the piano for us tonight.  As usual, his playing is wonderful.  Could only think of our current political situation when he played "If I Only Had A Brain"  from "The Wizard of Oz."
