Here's my Lux Dolphin I picked up at a charity shop for £6.
It came with it's hose, but unfortunately no attachments. It runs as sweet as a nut. :)

Any info on these models is greatly appreciated.

Joe

I've got a dolphin electric with a broken hose, and the service manual for them is on my drive if it helps!
Have some filters in the garage for these, if you let me know your model number I'll try and dig them out tomorrow. Free if you want, damn things are horrible to sell!

Hi Joe,

Nice find! I have one of those boxed, they're fab machines!

Bit of history, the Dolphin replaced the 2010, 2020, 2030 and 2040 cleaners as Lux's TOL cylinder range in late 1988, alongside the launch of the the 615 and 616 uprights and the more compact Lite cylinders.

The first style had 3 models available - the white base model, the 2230, a charcoal grey 1400 model and the TOL purple 1400 model with remote hose. All had variable power and the "boost" button. Lux were big on the whole boost thing in the late 80's and early 90's.

Here is a pic from Argos 1989 showing the first style Dolphin. Notice, it has black extension tubes and the 2000 series style floortool.

Here's another catalogue snap from Grattan 1990. As you can see, by then, all the tools were light grey and the newer style (and in my opinion, cheaper) floortool are now included.

The Dolphin kept going until 1995 when it was replaced by the Harmony and Ingenio cleaners. The later Dolphin's had a more modern colour scheme, and the I believe the last 1200 electronic was royal blue. There were also some modifications made to the tool compartment. On the earlier models, the tool storage was inside the bag compartment, in a tray that sat on top of the bag. On the later cleaners, the storage compartment was totally separate to the bag chamber, similar to Miele cylinders.

That would be great! Cheers Sam! :)

Thanks Chris! Is mine missing the tool compartment tray then?

That purple one looks really nice! Are those quite rare now?

The Dolphin was given to Jacob (suction selector) about a month ago, and recently it's started playing up. The motor is making strange noises and the suction is poor.
