Hi all!

This thread might be a long one. So strap yourselves in!

First off, The DC01. I have heard many DC01s in the past with the standard original 1993 motors (both DC01 Standards and De Stijls') and it's music to my ears! :D But have heard some DC01s with motors similar to the one that a DC07 or my DC14 has (a YDK Panasonic). So where there ever two types of motor fitted to the Dyson DC01 or was there ever just one? I'd like to know please :)

Now onto tomorrow! So on Sunday my local carboot is held. Never been to it before. But I hope to find either a:

Dyson DC01
Dyson DC02
Dyson DC03
Hoover Top fill 80s Junior

Hopefully I find anyone of those, well I hope so. Wish me luck! :D

Hi you have quite a good chance at finding Dysons - my carboot has them the most! I have never seen Dyson DC01's with the old logo though :(. Good luck anyway.

Good luck!
Yes two different motors were fitted to the DC01.

Thanks for messages people! :D Fingers crossed for a DC03, I've wanted a Dyson DC03 since I was 2 years old!

Hi Tim!
The Early DC01's had the Ametek motors, the original sounding one you like, and the later Dc01's have the YDK motors that sound like a DC07 or DC14 etc

The Ametek ones are less powerful, but are quieter
The YDK ones are louder but have more power and clean better

Thanks Tayyab! :D

So then, I'm after a DC01 with an Ametek motor because that's music to my ears! Also the sound the Ametek motor produces is music to my ears! And also sounds like a DC01 should? If you get what I mean? I don't mind the YDK Panasonic motors but they don't go well with the DC01, they go much better with later Dysons' like the DC04, DC07, DC14 etc.

Does anyone know how many DC03s we're produced and how likely am I to find one? Because I REALLY want a DC03!

DC03's are less common than DC04's or Dc01's, but you might find one, or I recommend /gumtree or eBay, I saw a purple and green dc03 a few weeks agoit was £20

You can always try every other weeks, do you know if your carboot's open on mondays, /saturdays, etc? I am hopefully going tomorrow and will let you know what I see there :) :D

just be sure to point out faults on the vacuums to get it cheaper

Good luck, if you do find anything be sure to post lots of pictures.

I have become very taken with the older dyson's, primarily their looks and one day I hope to import some nice condition early dysons (the ones with the old style lettering)

I remember getting dc03s from the tip, I liked them, but I'm not sure I would now
