Greeting all! First post.

I bought a Kirby Heritage vacuum cleaner off of Craigslist for $40. It had a few issues, but luckily I have a factory authorized Kirby repair place in my town and had it fixed. Let me tell you what was done, and then I will ask my questions:

1. The fan needed to be changed. The local Kirby store put in a Kevlar fan to replace the plastic one that was in there.
2. The safety switch was bent. He fixed it.
3. The power chord plug had issues. He reconnected the wires in the plug.
4. He replaced the bag connector with the newer round twist on, so I can use the newer Kirby HEPA filter bags.
5. The light housing was not staying up when lifted. Adjusted and fixed.

I'm using it as my daily vac right now. Two things I would like to do:

1. Polish the chrome metal. The metal is quite dull. Any suggestions on polishing it?

2. I'd like to get the smaller nozzle for it. Does anyone know if the nozzle for a Heritage II or Legend II will fit on the original Heritage?

Sorry, don't have any pics to share at the moment...

The safety switch is identical, so if you find a Heritage II or Legend II small nozzle, it WILL fit the Heritage 1.

There's what appears to be a Heritage II small head on eBay right now. I'm going to have to ask the seller to measure it and make my call from there. Supposedly, the smaller head will give you a little more power.

Gotta say, I am quite happy with my $40 find.

It (the 13" nozzle) will be useful in tight spaces.

You can start out with Mothers metal polish and many hours of polishing. That will make a huge difference
