ok, Ive spent a long time wanting to know the answer to this, I looked in the search and I think I know kind of what I need to know. But I wish to confirm it. I have a Hoover model 543, It is a coffee can machine with a switch and cord in the handle, old style pre 700 sleeve bearing motor, and a triangle badge. Now on the search, Ive found two different variations of this. One is like a 541 with a straight handle, and a non handle cord and switch. With that being said Im guessing there was a early and a late 543? Could someone please show me a all original pic of both the early and the late? Mine is pretty original, the only three things that are out of place about it are, the paint on the lower motor half was removed, then buffed (which i like and personally have no problem with), and it has a generic headlight add on (again i like that). and of coarse, the bag is not original. here's a pic of it=).....she is one of my favorite of my early Hoovers

Love the headlight , I have been after one for my hoover model 700 for a while now. I heard they are far and few between now for the 700.  If anyone finds one keep me posted.

happy hoovering

i was not aware that they were made.....

for the 700, i would like that a lot better. it seems weird to see the deluxe headlight and hearing the low powered old style sleeve motor. but i still love it all the same, Ive seen this add on, on a 541 and it looked REALLY out of place!..lol..at least it suits this model a little better.

Nice Hoover

Instead of 'generic headlight' I think this is the genuine Hoover Hedlight. As you say differences can be seen from early to late.Others may know more.-Happy Beating,Sweeping and Cleaning.
