I recently found a Bissell Plus vacuum. However when I started cleaning it, I noticed the green foam motor filter smells bad. There was a smelly bag that I removed that had probably caused the odor. I tried washing and spraying with Lysol and it still smells musty. I've tried looking up a replacement, and it appears they are only available from service centers anymore. Is there something else I could use instead for the filter?

Depending on size and how thin or thick go to Home Depot and look at air conditioning filters. They have a multipack of Register filters that are very cheap and may be cut to size to replace many filters. You could also look at air cleaner filters and see if any of those may be cut to size.
If you post a picture of vacuum, filter and even model number it would give me a better idea of what you're looking for. If the filter is foam, Joanne Fabrics has different foam thicknesses and you may be able to try some of that. Most likely you'd be purchasing a yard of foam though. |
