As many of you are probably aware, I am a power head canister nut!! I love them and its always been the style machine that I choose for a task.

However, ever since I got this machine a little over a month ago, it has sort of become my new "Goto" vacuum. Currently in my house most of my vacs are in the garage. I have a few in a spare bedroom, being worked on and our Bissell PowerForce is in a coat closet on the first floor. So lately even though I have my Hoover PowerMax canister in the garage, I find myself grabbing this Hoover Power Drive more often. I save the PowerMax for my weekly deep clean and use the Power Drive for vacuuming after cats, quick cleanings, even attachment use.

Maybe I'm getting ill and this sudden pull towards an upright is a sign of bad news. My thoughts are that this machine is just actually fun to use. I definitely like the Self Propel on this Hoover much better than our Kirby G4.

Awesome machine!! It's been on my wish list since I was a kid. I hope to find one of these machines eventually. If you don't mind me asking where were you lucky enough to find it?

I have the green Hoover Dirt Finder version of this vacuum that was TOL....if I remember correctly, mine is a 1997 model. It looks IDENTICAL to yours, except above the tool door there's a display with the red & green lights, as well as a switch for the dirt finder's sensitivity. I found it back in 2007 in a Goodwill in Barrie, Ontario, & paid only $15 dollars CDN for it. All tools & hose were there with exception of the dusting brush, which I had a black donor one to put in it. I had to get a new brushroll for it, & managed to get one for free from Hoover....and yes there is a story of how I got it free that I'll have to tell you sometime.

Happy Vacuuming with your Hoover Power Drive....Rob

I have a sad looking one of those is dark green, They were rare here in SA and I have never seen another one. My one needs a lamp lens and bumper, other than that it works very well

I have never seen the green one. I've seen red, blue and beige. My first memory of these was checking out a Best store catalog many years ago. Of course at the time I never dreamed of owning or using any of the machines in that catalog.

I do know that Hoover had a dirt sensor model.

Ryan, I found this at an estate sale. I walked in, the guy was trying to get me to purchase all sorts, and I asked "Do you have any vacuums." He pointed me over, to find this Power Drive along, I believe a Dirt Devil hand vac was there. He said they had sold one vac already. It always gets me when they told me that, I get SOOO curious of what I missed out on. You never know, what if I missed a Eureka Express or Hoover Celebrity II Elite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

John, you're so FUNNNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice, how is the noise level? I really liked these when they were new because of the clear attachment cover on top. My favorite was the green one. I saw one similar to yours at an estate sale a while back, but unpriced. A local thrift store has a red one for $8 but it has paint specs all over and no attachments.

Rob,
I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Kirby guy, but have been using an Electrolux L for sweeping the floors and cleaning off upholstery and beding as well as using my Sanitaire SC684 on the carpets. I think it is just fine to try other things, it's all about fun. Using something other than what you normally use is part of why we collect vacuum cleaners.
Have fun.
Justin

Thanks everyone for the great comments!!
Fan-of-Fans. It's about as loud as an Elite. It makes good noise but not terrible for a fan first upright design. Definitely much quieter than many of the Dirt Devils and Eureka Worldvac, & Bravo style uprights.

Is that a belt check indicator on the hood? Wonderful green and there's an Allergen filtration description on bag door. Very very nice.

I've never seen this one before. I've seen the tan, blue and red, never a green!! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!
