You can't sell a Hoover!

Sell one of your Electroluxes to make room, ha ha.

You are making me very jealous with $5 vacuums!

I manage to buy the occasional "old" Vacuum Cleaner from the local recycling store but even they charge at least £10 ($15).

Tristan, it sounds like you are in a mecca of thrift shopping. I have practically nothing around here.

You could easily turn that Conquest around for $50-$100

Great machines! BIG one too!

If running properly, they are very very quiet. I had one briefly that belonged to my friend. Not really that hard to use as one might think.

They are many hundreds of dollars new so you did quite well at $5!

I lived in Myrtle Beach, SC for 3 years and picked up the y'all a little. No worries!!

About the Conquest. I've never owned one, used one or had a close up look but still know a little about them. Currently brand new on Hoover's website, these are priced at $649. These are one of Hoover's best ever. They are still produced and were/ are only available under commercial line. On the side of carpet head is a clean out knob. Anything large, is dropped out of the air stream to prevent fan or bag damage. These are quiet, powerful vacuums.
The machines are more dirt cup equipped rather than, I hate to use "Bagless" as a way to describe this machine, just cause I think of Wolly World junk when hearing "Bagless." It's a dirt cup that collects the dirt. You can shake the top very thick cloth bag, so that the dirt falls into the cup below. Assuming you don't have any holes in the bag, and the dirt cup is sealed well and in good repair, then you won't have any visible dust storm. Give it a few moments to settle then remove dirt cup and dump into trash bag. From there its very easy to wash out, wipe , etc. No filters to clean, no strange contraptions for dirt to get caught, just a smooth sided sturdy cup. Same design that Hoover had years ago for some of their residential Decade 800's. It removes and reattaches with ease, much better than Sanitaire design. The capacity is equal to a Hoover Type A bag, their biggest disposable bag. For fun if you want you can empty every use. Otherwise you could probably go about a month. It will compress the dirt in for you.

Terrific suction, terrific agitation, its just a great vac for your collection. Due to being commercial there is only a top cord hook and not 2 hooks, the cord is probably 50'. The agitator is something to marvel. Raised plastic ridges act as mini beater bars and help channel in dirt. Yet dual brushed agitator grooms, deep cleans and removes hair with ease. This is true Hoover! It Beats, As It Sweeps, As It Cleans!!

John has 400 Hoovers in his collection, I'd bet he has at minimum 1 of these, wouldn't surprise me if he had around 5 though.

Do whatever you want to do. Cleaning up, this can definitely bring in great money on a sale. Otherwise in great condition, and at very low cost, its a great machine for your collection and an excellent beginning of Hoover for you!!

Well you could say bagless, but I'd still call it bagged since it actually has a cloth bag.

Tristan, if you would be interested in keeping this around, you can always get a new bag assembly that accomodates the top fill A bag

I'm jealous! I haunt every Goodwill, Salvation Army, and thrift store in the area and I haven't found a decent vacuum in a LONG time! Last one I found at Goodwill was one of those Bissell bagless, Walmart specials. They were asking I think $30 or something like that for it, and when I plugged it in and turned it on, it sounded like a thrashing machine that had a sack of marbles running through the fan! I turned it off, wrapped the cord back around it, sit it back in it's corner, and walked away!

Hoover Conquest-a nice,HUSKY vacuum.would love to have one---If I saw one for $5.00 definetly would buy it!But als-the thrift stores have closed here-only swap shops for large appliances(no nice vintage old ones)and thrift stores with high priced USED baby and other clothes. The Salvation Army store here is one of those "boutique" type places.Nothing any good.

There were other versions of the Conquest:

a widetrack version, a few inches wider than the standard version;

a dual machine version, where two of the standard machines were joined side by side, giving a cleaning path of around 28". The handles were joined together by means of a pram handle.

I'm glad Hoover still makes a high-quality vac like this.

If you're going to sell the Conquest, I'd definitely take it!
