Just curious. I remember having seen a Hoover convertable in purple (or lavender, what ever you want to call it) at one time (havnt got one though). Did Hoover make any other machines to match that colour scheme?

The Hoover you speak of is.the Convertible.model 33 (1962-64), finished in dusky lavender and pearl white. To my knowledge, their were no other Hoover models with that color scheme.

that color.....=)

was espcially made for none other than Agnes Morehead who played Endora on Bewiched....

Didn't Agnes Moorehead have a friend (or friends) who were with the Hoover Company? I seem to.remember hearing something about that. And since Hoover vacuum cleaners were prominently featured in the 1963 film "Who's Minding the Store?" and on the TV series "Bewitched", both of which featured Agnes Moorehead, it would certainly stand to reason.

SHE was very good friends with them.

They made that cleaner in HER favorite color. I do believe that, even though the word HOOVER was NEVER spoken in either show, they were in there due to her. It was Americas's first look at the totally "new" cleaner, the DAM. Imagine HOOVER getting a free ad like that. Too bad they couldn't have sprung for a Convertible with a light for Agnes.

john that hoover is now at the tti headquarters with some of the related agnes moorhead keepsakes that made it her own.....agnes was best friends and neighbors with lucille ball who introdruced agnes to her lifelong and childhood friend henry dryfuss.....who was brought in via hoover to prop out the set of whose minding the store with the 1962 hoover floorcare collection.....agness signature color is model 33 in honor for her by henry dryfuss in honor of their friendship via lucy. a note to all hoover collectors ....it was this friendship of henry and lucy that made the hoover aerodyne ad i have on my website in my foyer.....go to sweepercentral.com......thus lucy used a model 62 on i love lucy which was the first product placement in the history of television ....convertible will follow on all desilu produced programing like the gary moore show...dick van dyke....make room for daddy....the andy grifith show.....agnes had henry show william asher director of i love lucy and later bewitched the dial a matic because it was the best new age vac that could be used by the prop department at screen gems

PS I heard that Lucy was also a fan of Sunbeam Moxmasters. Something else I collect.

Not to mention

gottahaveahoove's profile picture
the Honeywell thermostat, the "cinnamon bun", Singer sewing machines. When we were at HOOVER Historical Society, we stood on the porch where they'd tell stories of Henry and the rest of them sitting on that porch. We heard "Bud" Hoover tell of Henry having pork chops with the HOOVERs , so casually speaking.
We also learned how Henry took his own life when he learned his beloved wife had terminal cancer. A shame to lose such a brilliant mind. What a legacy: he touched almost everything.

They were still using the 1100 DAM in season 7? Talk about frugal! I would've thought Samantha would have been upgraded to a power drive model 1170 for sure!

Samantha didn't need the Power Drive DAM, her witchcraft drove the thing, lol! Perhaps that was the "inspiration" for Hoover to intro the PD in 1969, it was the 1st self propelled vacuum!

These are scans of catalogs from another member (Sean Curry). He was gracious enough to let me go through his catalogs. I have more and I'm thinking of starting a new thread. These old catalogs from companies that are no longer in existence shouldn't violate the copyright law.
