Convertibles

I think the RS on left was very early 90s.I seem to recall that after introduction of the new Elites Hoover wanted to quickly discontinue household convertibles but dealer protest caused it to stay longer.Anyone know more?

Thank you, I love these convertibles. I think the U4413 had to be sometime in the 80's, that's when I seen them as a kid

ok....

you know that the Hoover convertible was the longest running sieres of machines in hoover history, they ran from 1958 through 1993, your maroon plad Convertible RS was the LAST convertible in producton..,, the first was the model 65, and they were all metal based until 1978 when hoover switched to a plstic base and fan for a more light weight and easy to handle machine.....on the model tag on both of these machines the first four numbers were the date of porduction....and this was done on hoover propudcts made after 1987....so you should see four numbers, the first two rangeing from 01 to 12 and the last two something like 88 or 92 for example....so there should be something like.....0488, that means that that machine was produced the fourth month (April) of 1988......the RS shuld deff be dated....the orange red maybe.....you can tell if the numbers make sence ( like you know that that would not be if the numbers were 2365, cust that was made far after 1965, and there are only 12 months in a year....you get the idea)

now im gonna post a pic of my matching concept to your RS Convertible......the Conept is dated 0290 so that is Febuary of 1990

well on that

serial number you cant.....that means it was made before 1987.....so you really dont know the time of prodiction, Hoover ONLY sarted doing that after 1987....and rember???....it has to make SENCE.....the first two number would be the month ( 01 - 012) and the last two are the year....so 0018...dosent make any sence for a Hoover convertible.....so it was made before the time of the dates being written in the serial number......does that help a bit more?

some of the later Convertibles were somtimes made right when this was started, so some would be made bfore 1987 when this method of dating was not yet used...then 20 or even 100 more machine off the line later could have been then dated since hoover models seemed to run for atleast 3 years...

I do not know the exact year of the U4413-042, but I think that it is from the mid to late 1980s.
