What a horrible Oreck , I received it the other day and am for the first time in my life very disapointed with Oreck . To start and end this is made in CHINA , complete garbage sorry to say.It is like a toy to be nice. I don`t like reaching in back of the handle to find the switch . It has a smaller cleaning path than all the other orecks. A very narrow tube for dirt to go through and a smaller bag and a different one than all other orecks. The LED headlight is worthless . Very difficult the replace brush roller you must take to Oreck store to get it replaced . Oh did I tell you it`s made in CHINA so disapointed in Oreck what were they thinking .Not worth the $500.00 they are charging . Back it goes asap !

Could you post some actual pictures of the machine? I'm really curious as to what it actually looks like.

from the pic it doesn't look very impressive, it looks a bit gimmicky, the handle look s , well , like rubbish. this is what happens when a company looses focus and the accountants take over

It looks like it would break or catch fire if you looked at it wrong

I thought it was ugly from the start, and their moving the power switch to the back of the body also bothered me. Good to know it works as awful as it looks. Now, how could they possibly make an Oreck fill tube any smaller than it already is?

Even though Chinese, the new Edge seems to be a really cool vac.... I played with one in Sears.... have you tried that one out yet?

Their grabbing at any market that they can, die hard oreck fans would buy one wasting money on it.  Even if I liked oreck I wouldn't buy one, looks cheap, and unreliable. But thats my personal opinion. Smile

I appreciate good design and I love things that are different and interesting, etc. I love the entire Fantom line, pre europro fantom that is, and I drive a Pontiac Aztek. I love how it looks. It looks so fresh and new. I love the handle and I love the use of empty space. But it does look flimsy and you say "Made in China" and I cringe. BTW - I did play with the new Oreck Edge at a friends vac shop and it was absolute rubbish too. The suction of the thing was virtually nonexistent, It felt like a soft breeze coming through the crevice tool and it barely showed up at all on his vacuum gauge. I hated it, and he, an Oreck dealer, was shamed to have the piece of junk on his floor. I don't like Oreck to begin with, but this is a travesty and I expect the Magnesium to be even worse. It's like all they care about is aesthetics and to hell with everything else. At least Dyson tries to make their vacuums look and work good before failing at the working part.

all of Orecks current models in my opinion are very well made and they work very well . I especially love my Platnium Pilot it is my favorite. The big difference is all the other Orecks are made in the USA . I did try the edge at sears also and it is very well made and cleans really well compared to the Magnesium . Thanks John : )
I still need to take pictures just been busy soon I promise .

I like my XL Ultra. Love my XL21. Tried out the Pilot and Edge at Sears the pilot really pulled itself along it seems like it would be a nice vac but the handle was a bit loose so it would sometimes turn instead of the head. The Edge at sears did not have the quick wand on it, it seems to have an even larger fill tube and it has a variable speed motor which was pretty cool. I think it would out clean the Pilot but i'm unsure if it would outlast it, the Pilot being built in the USA and not having the circuit boards the edge does would probably have better longevity.

Dreadfully misguided. Looks like something an Art Student cooked up for a design project, with no intention that it would be put into production. But it wouldn't look out of place in a hermeticly sealed high rise condo with the all glass walls, where it never gets dusty. Mostly it looks like a coat stand and after I pick mine out of the dumpster in a few years that's exactly what I'll use it for...

It would be a lot more well received by more people if they used someone who was actually able to sufficiently demo the machine. I think they were aiming for "cutesy" and cutesy does not sell vacuums nowadays.

The demo with the little girl --the Oreck is LOUD!On the other Oreck ads-the sound of the vacuum is muted.and--is the fan and fancase of this machine made from magnesium-if they were it would truely be stronger.I think Oreck products seem to be taking a downturn.for the money you can get Royal-Hoover,and Riccar-Simplicity machines that are just as light--but less expensive and MORE powerful.GEE-wonder if the Oreck Magnesium would make an interesting powered power nozzle?Use it with your canister vacuum!

oreck is such a rip. anyone else would charge $200 MAX for what they make, even simplicity freedoms are a little on the high side, but replacement parts are not overly inflated like oreck and they proform better and made in the USA.

$40 on a plastic bag clip??? $35 on a fan? $40 for a itty bitty brush roll? are they on crack?

Infomercial

I was watching TV this morning and caught the infomercial for the Magnesium, and noticed a lack of any one from the Oreck Family, not David, or his son. Instead it was two women, one of which who use to host a home improvemnt show on HGTV.
