Here's a new discovery. While checking three different shops for a used Elux hose, I found this-

It's the same company that makes Simplicity Patterns and sewing machines. And this link works, so there!

So then it's no real secret, huh! The models I saw looked like the more standard types, not those outer space contraptions that seem to be popular these days. I was impressed, too.

"Fabulous" ? "Amazing" ? "Best" ? In a classic posh font?

I think one of our, ah heh heh, more adventurous members had a hand in the websites design ;p

EXCELLENT vac. I bought a 7300 seven years ago. Outstanding performance, and it still runs like new.

Tacony, who makes the Riccar and Simplicity cleaners, makes a great product. There are a few differences in the Simplicity 6 and 7 series and the Riccar counterparts, however, the other models are identical mechnically. Again, they are very good vacuums.

Simplicity...different by design....

So,

There are a FEW differences between Simplicity and Riccar vacuum cleaners.

In the 6 series the back wheels on the Riccar are mounted on the cleaner body proper a'la Panasonic. On the Simplicity they are wider and mounter to the lower vacuum nozzle body, in effect making the machine less likely to tip over. It also has the loop handle on the top of the upper motor body that the Riccar doesn't have. This makes it better to carry upstairs, and better still makes it easier to use on stairs. Yes mechanically they are identical.

Same for the 7 Series machines. The 7 series has a dual headlight beams that throw the light towards the side, while the Riccar throws it more forward. If your actually blind, this feature helps. Otherwise it's advertising legerdemain... offering no real benefit. Simplicity usually offers more features model per model than Riccar.

When it comes to the Synchrony and Synergy..yes they still are mechanically similarbut, they do have differences. But they really are small differences that make it thru and thru a Simplicity. Again like FoMoCo products of which i liken these lines for the customer to understand, I liken the Riccars to be like Mercury's and Simplicities like Lincolns. I have a few Riccars that I use to demo the difference.

In closing...it has been said that Tacony Corporation puts out quality stuff. That's true and one of the last handful of companies who actually strive and have the desire do so. I usually Sell one due to many people giving the brand a word of mouth recommendation.

It does my business VERY well to carry the line. With Royal Everlast models, Carpet Cleaners a canister w/ powernozzle that I carry... and a few Dirt Devil models I usually sell a Simplicity over Royal three Simp's to one Royal.
