B&D actually had a real canister vac back in the 80/90's called the Valet.. it looked sort of Eureka ish. Chad found one here a couple of years back. I don't imagine they're that common. |

My great uncle had one. They were quite a bit larger than a Dustbuster and were corded and pretty powerful for a hand vac. They were really loud. I don't remember if I ever opened his, but I think they used the same kind of pre-filter that the dustbuster used - I don't think it took bags, but I could be wrong.

I slogged my way through that long video to the Collector commercial. That's the same vacuum I remember my great uncle having. I'd say that they show it functioning as it truly did. A Dustbuster never would clean like that, even brand new. The Collector was AC-dependent, not rechargeable, so it had a lot more power. I never really used the Collector - my great uncle, I believe, was a latent vacuumphile, and he also had an Electrolux upright and a Kirby Legend II. I spent most of my time there playing with those. (That was before I had my own, of course.)
Thanks for resurrecting the memory! :) |
