As the old tuna commercial went: "Sorry, Charlie." Actually, since the Heritage until the present, the serial numbers are read this way: EXAMPLE ~~~~~ 2841021584 ~~~~~ EXAMPLE (This example means: 21,584th machine to be made in October of 1984 in Andrews, TX.) 1st digit is the plant, 2nd & 3rd digit is the year, 4th & 5th digit is the month, & the last 5 digits represent what number in production for that month & year. Cheers & hagn all, Bill |

Hello & good morning Chris. The serial numbers on the paper stickers on the transmission & motor are NOT supposed to match the serial number of the actual Kirby itself. However, Kirby [supposedly] does know which components were/are matched together at/from the time of manufacture. The new machines are much easier to track down when they have been 'bojacked' out, &/or sold thru unauthorized channels. I hope this helps you Chris. Cheers & have a great day everyone!!!!!!!!!!
