I got my first Dyson from eBay a couple of weeks ago. I fixed the broken floor nozzle hose and it has been running great. As with all vacuums I get that have filters, last week I ordered a new pre and post motor filter for it. I don't know what the history of this machine was, so I wanted new filters. Well, when I opened up the post filter compartment, I was shocked at the amount of dirt in there. Not just fine dust, but heavier course dirt, almost like sand. The Hepa filter was caked. I got out one of my other vacs and cleaned out the compartment and installed the new Hepa filter, as well as the new pre motor filter. Again I was shocked at the improvement in performance. I now hate the hose attachments because when I try to use them, the hose contracts and pulls the machine to me. Why would all that heavy dirt be in the Hepa filter compartment? Could it be someone ran it without the pre motor filter in place?

owner never ever washed or cleaned the filters, or emptied the bin after each use, as many post here state basic maintenance as outlined in the instruction booklets of vac are for the most part ignored

i would go so far as to say most people dont read the instruction booklets

Yeah, I agree

People buy vacs and expect them to pick up anything and not get indigestion. Some people do not deserve to own good machines. Sometimes I feel bad for the vacuum.

I love reading instruction manuals!

For everything - even simple toasters or USB flash drives.

I think it's our "haste makes waste" society driven ever faster by computers that makes everyone so impatient with even the basics of life - like cleaning out a vacuum.

Give me a bagged machine over bagless any day - less maintenance! Love my Tempo + Constellation duo!

You are so RIGHT

Hi Brian You sure got that right I just got from one of my friends a Kirby Dual 80 with the four brush roll. That new brush roll made it like a new machine and SOOOOO much lighter then the g series. I think that will be my daily driver. Take care Doug

So much for the Dyson adverts which say the machine never clogs!
