You may recall that last week I posted about Mama's Electrolux Model L. She had emailed me a couple weeks prior saying her Electrolux had stopped running. Daddy took it to a local vac shop. After a few days the man called and said, in Mama's words:

"Two clips had disintegrated, that connected the wires to the motor (if I understood him right), and he was having trouble finding replacements, due to the age of the machine. He said it wouldn't be expensive to fix, he just has to locate the replacement parts. He had several inquiries out. I'll let you know when we hear from him. Too bad you don't have all those Electrolux's to get parts from, anymore!"

A week passed and she emailed again and said the man had not been able to find the "clips."

Well, I wrote her today and said if she would give me the man's name and phone number, I'd call him and tell him I would be sending him a complete replacement motor.

She replied with the information and I just called him. What he said was that the carbon brushes had "blown out" in his words, and that's what he needed.

He said that the Model L uses a unique size and shape of carbon brushes -- different even from other Electroluxes and that he doesn't have any in stock, nor did any of the other 11 stores in his chain (see link). So I said I would find a set and send them to him.

Before I cannibalize one of "chrisbus'" Model Ls just for the carbon brushes, does anyone out there happen to have a set? If so, name the price and I can beam the $$ to you via PayPal.

Thanks,

I want to thank Mark Berger (meba2233) for stepping up to the plate and sending a set of Lux Model L carbon brushes right to Tidewater Vac & Sew for me. Thanks a million; and I know my mom will be thrilled to get her Electrolux back!! :)
