Can any of the Hoover people maybe help me figure this out?

I saw this model 29 on eBay, and almost bid on it.. but whatever.. I don't even need to be tempted to buy another model 29... I digress.

I'm confused because of the bag.

So, obviously the bag was replaced. But -- its replacement bag really puzzles me.
A) It's a narrow bag.
B) It says "Citation" on it.
C) It is pink, like the model 65 -- which is confirmed that early 65's had bags with "Citation" printed on it.
D) It has the wide opening, to accommodate the earlier, larger bag rings like on the older models -- which tells me it was never made for a bag ring as small as a Convertible has..
E) It's a narrow bag -- Hoover didn't go to a narrow bag until well after any remnants of the word "Citation" would be long gone. And the narrow bag then made its debut with the late model 31s, and of course the 32 and 66.

I guess I just can't place how this bag is possible to exist... Unless maybe it's one of possible many variations that they were tinkering with until they finally made up their minds..?

Am I crazy?

~Fred

I have this bag in great condition, on my Citation. I brought this up a couple of years age when I bought the machine from a fellow collector. No one could give me a definite answer on where and when it was produced. I think it must've been a replacement bag for the Citation, but would they have gone to the trouble of putting the name on it? I'd like to know myself!

Replacement Citation bag

That could well be the case. Years ago, they might've done something like that. I have a 64 Citation as well, but mine has the wide top bag which I'm pretty sure is original. 65's also had a wide top bag. Hoover later offered perforated vinyl replacement bags for machines such as the 61, 62, 29, etc. that originally had rayon. If somebody can give a definitive answer, would they please come forth?

You'll have to post better pictures of the bag once you get it and clean it up! That 29 looks to be in super nice shape.. those are hard to find in that nice-of-shape.
