I was looking at Bissell's website, and they are starting to use the same model names as their previous models. The Bissell ProLite, The PurePro which came from the Pure Air I think, and the Power Groom. I thought it was neat that they are keeping the names going

Don't forget the Lift Off. I don't like it when companies do that.... it makes researching, discussing, and buying parts more confusing.... usually the original was better anyway. The fact they did that with the Prolite bothers me as much as Dirt Devil and the Broom Vac thing. I can't believe they are so uncreative that they have to recycle names. Maybe they think that people who had the original and liked it will buy the new one just because it has the same name.... I guess there really are people that stupid out there!

Isn't that crazy? How hard is it to come up with a new name for a vacuum? :P
Did you see the new Big Green carpet cleaner on their site?

The new big green...

does anyone know if it is a good vac? ive wanted one since the new one came out but it looks kind of cheap

and why not keep the name? just like cars... make a reputation for the name and keep it going, though i do agree it complicates parts orders, etc.

That Big Green has been out for a few years now I believe. It looks like a neat one, but the reviews are very good on it

It is made to compete with Rug Doctor- which, at least in the south, is now being sold in Wal Mart (or as we say in SC, Wall Marks)

When car companies recycle name, it's usually the same car continued with a face lift... these floor care products are being done years after the original stopped being produced and are completely different machine, usually inferior to the original version.

What about all the vacuums that share car names? Sometimes, the vacuums came first, but not always

Eureka Altima, Maxima, Contour
Hoover Fusion, Celebrity, Citation, Spirit
Kirby G5, G6
Electrolux Silverado/Grand Marquis, Legacy

I'm sure there are others that I've forgotten about!
