I've run into a real prize winner on eBay! She is selling a pretty nice 1930s Singer upright, which was why I was initially interested in the auction. But not after interacting with this nut-job!

Her name is Debi McCoy -- as in "The Hatfields and the McCoys." And boy oh boy, does she ever love to feud!

I saw she had used images from my web site in her listing, which most of you know is a particular pet-peeve of mine. I sent her my standard "Please remove my copyrighted materials from your auction listing. Thank you."

And she just went postal! Here's her reply:

-------

I really don't think that's any of your business what I put on my ebay aucitons! I've been doing this longer than you've been alive and I have removed your piece of crap just because your a buttface! I could probably buy and sell you 3 times over!!! How many children do you and your sister have???

p.s. your copyright ran out in 2006!!! Better check out your own site!!! You are an ass!!!

-------

So not only is she a barely literate hothead, she also clearly has no comprehension of how copyrights work.......

I don't know about you, but I'm staying far away from this one. It smells bad all over it.

See link, and note her zinger about removing the "Singer ad" because of a "rude eBayer." Rude? Did my request sound rude? Talk about the pot calling the kettle rude!! (Also take note of her ridiculous shipping charge.)

Glad you practiced restraint....something she hasn't learned yet, in addition to being ignorant of copyright marks and regular common courtesy. Nut-job indeed!

Charles, you are a better man than I. I wouldnt have been able to practice such restraint, I woulda had to point out the obvious to her as stated above. Except for mabe the C U part lol.

Well, the crazy lady's Singer closed at the grand final bid of ... $35.00. Yep. She only got one bid on it.

I hope whoever bought it gets it in one piece ... but my experience with this type of eBay seller is that she will likely just throw it in an empty, flimsy box with no padding or protection. Especially since she stated she would only ship it reluctantly.

Too bad, really. That's a fabulously gorgeous machine. Here's the "younger sister," the R4. Same machine with a cord winder and black bag.

Here's her happy clappy eBay scoring.

The second eBay negative is very telling, at least to me it is. I've had experience with the same type of person, they're so sickly sweet and perfect, get one or two out of a hundred complaints, they go nanners, and get real crazy. And there is a reason people complain.

There certainly is. But just try to get this sort of personality disordered person to admit their wrongdoing. They're incapable of doing so, instead lashing out at their "accusers" with self-righteous vitriol.

But here's the feedback remark that caught my eye and really scared me away:

"Item not padded, arrived broken. Seller claims USPS opened it & put in diff box"

She also has a LOT of "mutually removed" negatives.

Oh well, like I said from the start, this clearly is another eBay creep to A-V-O-I-D-!

You're able to unearth more than I can see, I know that there are some buyers nobody can please, but I'm sure the ones who complain about her know their stuff!

Alan

I can't believe she wouldn't just send them another 4.00 item what ever it was,it seemed that she had a lot of the product, thats an inexpensive item to keep a customer happy.

Well, it's not about the money, it's about the principle behind the way people like this seller think.

Those who are incapable of admitting they were wrong are incapable of showing humility and extending graciousness to others.

That was pretty much my point, some people would rather not admit they were wrong, no matter how little it would take to correct a situation.

Right. Exactly. And there are many more like her on eBay and indeed in the world at large.

OTOH, there are sellers like one whom I am dealing with right now. She had a beautiful, unused set of old Kirby attachments in all the original boxes including the large carton that held the complete set.

I was the only bidder at $10.49. She sent the invoice noting the shipping charge would be around $25, and apologized that it was so high "but the box is so large."

I instinctively responded saying I hoped she was going to send the stuff in a larger outer box and not ship in the Kirby box. I said I would rather pay extra for shipping and materials than to have the set get here ruined with scuffs and gouges and covered with stickers.

She wrote back and said she had indeed planned to do that but, thanks for the heads-up, she would pack it in a larger box.

She wrote back later and said that the larger shipping carton caused the shipping charge to more than double, but she did not want an additional payment from me. "It's fine," she said, "I just want to know that these Kirby accessories are going to a good home."

People like her are the ones who make eBay fun and pleasurable!

Absolutely!

I have a chance to get mixer parts from eBay, I've only had one shaft job on that site, when the man claimed I got the package, and rejected it with "buyers remorse". No f-ing way, that was an item I had wanted for several years. He just got a higher bid and "lost" the item while he was snowing me. Allen Murray of Austin, TX.
