I just bought a Kirby Classic III Model 2CB yesterday at a thrift store here in Nampa. I want to take the handle off so I can use the Kirby as a handvac or a canister but I can't figure out how to get the handle off. I only paid $15 for the Kirby and all it came with was the hose, one wand, one curved wand thing, and a long floor brush too. It came with a belt but I last night I realized that the belt was broken in half so I put a Tradition belt on there instead. I also tried getting the handle off by unscrewing the thing at the bottom of the handle with pliers but that didn't work to well, and it scratched it up too. I already have the Handi-Portable attachment thing for a tradition and I want to use that for my Classic III. Also, what should I use to polish the Kirby so that looks nice and shiny and new again? Thanks!

There is a pin that pulls out at the bottom of the handle. It should just pull right out to release the handle. Check out the owner's manual in the owner's manual page here.

I can't pull it out!

I can't pull it out! Is there another way I could get the handle off or no? Or can I maybe loosen the handle pin with something or no?

Nevermind! I got the handle off! The handle pin was just hard to get off so maybe it needs some WD40 or something like that? But thanks for posting the manual!

Handle Fork Pin

If you cannot get the handle fork pin off by hand, lightly tap the pin from the left view (right if you look from the switch view) of the vac with a mallet.
