Hey all, I'm an amateur vacuum collector here at Mizzou just getting into this hobby. I've been a vacuum cleaner junkie since I was little and after reading how today's vacuums "aren't like they used to be" and seeing them go for semi big bucks on eBay, I decided to join the bandwagon.

I have 7 Hoovers so far, and my main focus is the vintage Convertibles/Elites/Legacies/Decades/PowerMaxes

Not pictured is a Hoover Convertible, U4519, that belonged to my gram, as it is back home in Ferguson.

I am currently restoring this U4497-900, which is why it's disassembled. I'm replacing the brushroll as it is rusty and the power cord

This U4171 I found in the dumpster at the Columbia Salvation Army. I cleaned out the motor bay area and I just gotta replace the power cord as I found it cut off

Lastly, along with the U4171, I also found this U4193 in the Salvation Army dumpster. It works fine but I just need a replacement bag spring as the one on it is all stretched outta whack

Welcome Alex! You have a lot of great looking Hoovers there. I particularly like your Power Max. This is a great hobby and there are a lot of people here with years of experience and knowledge. Let me know if I can help you with any Hoover questions, machines, or parts. Great pictures!!!

Ah the black PowerMax. I bought one brand new at Costco back in the late 80's or early 90's can't remember exactly. IMHO it's the absolute best vacuum I own for all the major dog hair my two shed, or I brush out, on the carpet. One pass and it's gone each and every time. I like the auto coversion tools, the metal wands, the frangrance dispenser and the electronic motor speed control. The noise it makes is the only downer. Never had a problem with it either in the 17 years. still like new.
