For me – the find of the century. I have always wanted one ever since I started with my company 21 years ago and we had them bagged “Advance Mighty Maids” – wish I would have kept one as they are scarce in the states to my knowledge. On Craig’s list last week I found a Vorwerk VT120 complete with accessories and carpet cleaning machine for free – said it needed service. Drove about an hour to get it and am happy I did so. It is pretty beat up though. It needs a new bag cassette (latch broken), new brushroll (beyond repair) and of course bags. I have found the bags but does anyone know where I might find the other parts? Also the approximate age of machine?

Thanks in advance!

hi Rob, congrats!

For all historical details just browse through these pages:
www.vorwerk-museumprivat.de/...

To get parts, you might go through ebay.de, this country is more than crowded with abandoned Vorwerk parts, you might get them for almost nothing, some of the sellers shipping worldwide (if not, I can assist you, fleamarkets here are even cheaper, some parts going out for 1,- € or less)
Shouldn't it be "VK 120" instead of VT?

Note that the UK models differ from the German ones (switch not in the handle but on the lower cable hook etc.), note that US machines might be even more different. For specific info on "Mighty Maid" and US brands of Vorwerk, take a look at the Vorwerk Museum, section VK 117 (the model with the most of alterations, rebranding and reselling b2b).

Vorwerk is in the US as well, look at vorwerk.com and go to USA

which carpet cleaner is it that you have got?
And a little hint: Google or browse for "Vorwerk Kobold" (German) or "Folletto" (Italian) or "Optima" (France) or "Vacmaster" (Ireland) - Kobold and Folletto both meaning "goblin/dwarf"

Cheers, Joe
