I was wondering if anyone had any info on a Kenmore upright. I believe it was from the late 80's or early 90's. My grandparents had one. It was a Kenmore magic cord upright. Had the 2 speed power switch on the front of the handle and the cord came out of the back of the handle. It had a reset switch on the hood. A slider for High,Norm, low and auto height setting. had a wrap around headlight. The vacuum itself was blue and white. And I remember that the bag was not held on by spring or anything. The whole top of the bag was attached to the back of the handle and could not be removed. Or at least I dont think it could. the handle was a white plastic and the handle was not like a tube like most. it was more square. I have seen other older kenmore uprights that didnt have as much features or the square handle. but cant seem to find any info anywhere on the one im talking about. If anyone could help I would appreciate it.
Thanx,
Ken

I believe that one was the Kenmore Lifestyle upright. I don't have any pic of one though.

My aunt had one, It was a Lifestyle. It was basicly a Twin fan with a bigger hood. You can take the bag off but you would have to take the handle apart. If you watch Who's the Boss the vac (or similar) was in the opening theme song after the 1st season.

Lifestyle?

I have a self-propelled Lifestyle and there's a couple of reasons why I think the one you describe is not a Lifestyle. As far as I know, there's no height adjuster on them, it's more like a floating head design, and the light is not a wrap around but more of a light bar across the front of the machine. The one on Who's the Boss was more of a Singer design of the times which the top of the line did have the type of bag setup you described. Now, my memory is not as good as it used to be, but this is what I remember!

Cheers!
Rick

Thanx guys, Watching who's the boss the other day is what made me think of it. and then all the memories started comming back to me. My grandpa had it up till a few years ago when he got a hoover bagless. The Kenmore still looked new. before he passed when he was in the nursing home we had movers help take things out of the house and they dropped the kenmore which i was going to take. however the handle broke right off and could not be repaired. Been looking for one ever since. If anyone has any pictures or anything I wouldappreciate it cuz I cant seem to find any info on the vacuum other then that sears still sells the bags for it. Thanx again:-)

Is it like the one in my pic?
This was my mothers second vacuum, she bought it in 1986 to replace a Eureka 1428 upright which was a wedding gift in 1984, The Kenmore was replaced in early 1989 by a Hoover Elite 200 when it died a tragic death

Yes!!!

That is the same exact vacuum cleaner I was talking about. Boy does that bring back memories. Thank you!! I remember that is cleaned very well. Also the reason my grandpa got a Hoover bagless is because he could not push that vacuum anymore. I remember a few times I went to clean his house it would suck itself to the floor. But I loved the design. Wish there were more of them around. Thanx again,

Ken :-)
