Hi again:

I'm still slowly working on cleaning out my storage. I was going to put this on Kijiji as its a bit newer than the ones I usually post but I decided I should see if anyone here was interested first.

This is, of course, a Canadian Electrolux model AP280, made in 1982. The 280 was the last delux model in the AP line and had the distinction of being the only Electrolux they ever made with a two speed motor.

The vacuum itself is in very good condition with no bearing noise and it even has the original cord and plug.

The hose has seen better days but is still intact. It does leak though (my gauge, which isnt overly accurate gives a reading of 60 at the vacuum and 40 at the hose). I've left this hose with the machine as it is original.

The powernozzle has been repaired at some point and the original black base replaced with a dark blue one from the Ap100. It also shows scratches from use but works well.

All the attachments and the wand are in very good shape and it even includes the optional accessory kit and shag rake.

I'd like to get $100 (OBO) for it plus shipping if anyone is interested.

Doug

IIRC the ap280 was my first Electrolux find. I wonder if there was something about the vinyl of those hoses because mine has done the exact same thing.. gone all sort of knubbly. Still works great though.

What is Kijiji? Another auction site? I am not familiar with it. If so, how widely used is it?

Hey Charlie:

Kijiji is basically a classified ads site. They have it all across Canada and I believe the US too. In truth its a pain in the butt but I do occasionally put stuff on there and have had good luck selling through it.

Pete: The problem was the vinal covering stretched easily so if the hose was twisted around alot this was the result. I've seen guys take a hair dryer to it and shrink it back to where it belongs but you have to be very carefull otherwise it just melts.
