THere is about a foot tall stack of dealer brochures dating back to the 60's and I'll scan a few fun ones for all to see...

Speaking of the Decade

I still remember pitching a fit to go with my grandmother to the local appliance store to purchase her lime green Decade 80. I was somewhere between 4 and 6 years old, and so happy that she was getting rid of the super-scary Kirby DS 80 that had haunted the hall closet for all of those years.

That was back when my vacuum cleaner interest was- look, but don't turn on.

Why no cords in the pictures?

Great pictures, I wonder what the difference was between the U4161-9 and the u4153 was other than color?

Differences!

Hi Terry,

I know very little about the Decade 80's, although I would LOVE to own one over here, but it seems that the chrome handle and the plastic bar across the top of the bag are two obvious differences, and if the bar on the top of the bag is the for the same purpose as it was on the UK POWERPLUS range which were the decades contemporaries then this would be to house a proprietory air freshener.

Anyone else have any more info???

Clark.

Yes- Air Freshner

Hoover tablets that contained a very unique scent. It reminds me of my grandmother's Hoover. There was a black piece inside of the plastic piece that you could slide and control how much or how little of the fragrance was emitted.

These fragrance tabs are very similar to the Oreck tabs

Thanks for the information everyone. I wonder if there was much of a price difference?

I would love to get one of the Decade 80's with no headlight. That thing is really neat! I do not know why there is no cords either, almost all ads I see for vacuum cleaners have no cords. It's strange

I have that mint green Celebrity. It's still going strong too! I especially like the Qudraflex PN. It's very aggressive. I would use it more often but the filtration on it is horrible. It doesn't take long for dust to settle on things after vacuuming with it. Otherwise, an outstanding vacuum!

I think...

The lime green decade was somewhere between 200-240. I may still have my grandma's receipt.

If not, I'll look at the dealer pricing list that is somewhere in the huge set of notebooks with all the pictures and prices.
