Hi Tom, picked these up for you at our favorite thrift store a few days ago. They were propped up against the wall in the back of the store. I spotted the HOOVER name on the boxes and asked the lady in charge if they were for sale, and she gave them to me for free!! So they are yours to do what you want to with........They are never used boxes that have yet to be folded....... Hope you can used them! Jimmy

Wow...thanks Jimmy! I was there today and did not find any vacs but I did pick up a very cool Lawn Boy lawnmower. These boxes were used as waste recepticles at company functions. They would line them with those clear plastic bags. The ones I saw at Hoover Park some years ago were being used to collect soda cans. These will make excellent display boxes though! Just think of all of the great Hoover stuff I can store in them!!!! Thanks again for thinking of me.

Tom, Im glad you were able to get the LawnBoy mower. I thought of you as soon as I saw it. Im sure you can make a great mower out of it, as those electric mowers sure seem to be rare.

 I've never seen an electric lawn boy, would like to see some pics,I bought an old craftsman a while back,it has twin belt driven blades and the flip handle,I like these old electric mowers,It's kinda like vacuuming the yard,I ran over a small tree stump on the first time I used it and broke one belt,I did finish the yard it just took a while with the one blade. I like electric mowers as well,esp rechargable ones.And yes using them is like vacuuming your floor!I had a B&D rechargable,but the erosive sandy soil here "eroded" away its plastic deck.Miss the thing-the neighbors were fasinated-they had never seen a cordless electric mower.I really feel the rechargable mowers had more power than the corded models-why?you have the batteries-power source-right on the mower-no cord going to a distant outlet at the house to run the mower.I had first bought the BD mower at Home Depot in Manassas,Va-the machines just came out-the BD folks were demo'ing the machines by mowing all the grass in sight around the HD store.Tried one-liked it and bought one.Later a freind moved to Manassas,and his grass needed cutting-he didn't have a mower and he just bought a 6hp gas one from sears.We were trying to cut the overgrown grass with the gas one and it kept stalling.I tried the BD mower and it cut thru that grass like a min-bush hog.but it ran for only 20min before needing recharging.finally got the grass cut two days later.We were both amazied at how well that little rechargeable BD did-It outworked a 6Hp gas mower.Now I don't see those BD machines around anymore-thought with the high gas prices-they would make a comeback.One with a REMOVABLE battery pack would be nice-you could have two batteries-one working and the other charging.-non stop cutting!

On a completely unrelated note...

 In a 1987 report (forgot which month), CR tested an electric Lawn-Boy along with others. It was one of two electrics (the other was a Snapper) that could handle 7" tall grass without bogging down. That says a lot for an electric!

While they had a picture of the Snapper, they didn't include one of the Lawn-Boy. I'm curious as to what it looks like as well.

The first battery lawnmower I ever remember seeing was a Toro our neighbors up the street had back in the mid 60's. It ran on a 12v car battery. Never seen one like it since. Gardena also has a neat looking little rechargable reel mower.

I knew of a friend that had the Toro battery mower-Beleive these didn't stay with us because the car batteries could not take the "Deep discharge" cycles as used on a mower.Later rechargeable batteries could withstand this.when the deck on my BD mower "wore away" the batteries were still good.the mower lasted about 7Yrs.Would love another-but with a METAL deck.The soil around here is sort of like beach sand-wears down plastic decks and even the metal blades-have to replace mower blades each season.Sears,Agri-Supply,HD,and Lowes all have BIG selection of mower blades here.Agri-Supply is best they have the widest selection-they can get a blade to fit ANY mower.also have blades for tractor mowers.
