Hey everyone, So here is my latest machine. It's a Hitachi Powerhouse CV1700 from about 1991ish. This belonged to my Great Aunt, and is the only one of these I have ever seen. It was used along side her Goblin Commander until about 6 years ago when she started having difficulty using the upright and started using the cylinder as her main. She's recently moved into a sheltered housing apartment and invested in a Dyson Stowaway, so I twocked this off her lol. It needs a clean, the hose has a very annoying kink in it which I can't seem to get rid of and the floorhead needs some attention but other than that it's top notch. Hitachi are one of my favourites. I remember there being LOTS of the powerhouse uprights with the different coloured bumpers around when I was younger, but you don't tend to see them much anymore - the cream model with the stainless steel handle's are even rarer. Shame :( Here are some snaps. I shall get some more and maybe a video done once I've cleaned it up a bit. |

I bought my parents one of these years ago - well it was similar- it was variable speed model.... Once thing I do remember - it was terribly terribly heavy! But one of the best quality canisters I'd ever seen available on the Australian market. Mum's machine still runs - but the plastic handle broke - so they upgraded to a Miele. I do love how the attachments are stored in the little compartment at the back near the exhaust filter... These machines were beautifully quiet as well... Thanks for posting turbo500 - bought back some very fond memories! |

No problem :) I agree, it is a very good machine - deffo a strong rival to the Hoover Sprint and Electrolux Dolphin of the time. I have to say, I prefer the CV790 - I don't think it was worth the extra £20 as you didn't really get much more. Here's what was hiding inside the floorhead when I took it apart. |
