This is another acquisition that just showed up today. So that I don't make you all try to guess what it is, it's a Universal. I know, hard to believe right? If I'm not mistaken, this was their first tank cleaner.

Model E60A. No later than 1940. That's when they changed to the blue one. I'm guessing 1936 (ish)....

It looks like a jet engine. Even more so than the blue one.

WARNING Do not stand behind the engine!

It looks so antique.

Sitting next to it's successor, it looks so much older. That, and it's painted with a brownish/maroonish wrinkle finish. I just love the segmented, tapering look of the rear end. I really am so happy to have gotten this unit. Thrilled!

Holy Power Pods, Creviceman!

I agree it has the the earmarks and design cues post 1933/34 Chicago World's Fair Industrial Streamline & pre WW2. The logo plate cinches it.

Lovely and dare I say Rare find.

Dave

Wow Rick, that's really stunning -- if you stand it on its suction end it will look like a chrome Machine Age rendition of a beehive --- better watch out or you'll be adding a new hobby to your inventory, beekeeping. Either that, or maybe Uncle Joe and Sam Drucker will show up in their full Royal Order of Camels regalia demanding to know why you have co-opted the Beehive, an icon of Freemasonry!!

All joking aside, congratulations on this newest arrival to the House of Universal.

P.S.: Good job you were wearing clothes when taking the photo above and your reflection showed up in the glistening chrome... unlike the poor schmuck selling a dining room set on eBay a couple of years ago.......

What a beauty! Does he have all his attatchments?

Hey! I'm not an attachments kinda guy! Not for me....no way.

Actually, the attachments didn't come with it, however the ones that I do have will suffice. It uses the same hose connector as does the blue unit.

I can't believe that guy in the mirror!!!!!!!

I can't believe anything in that picture...what an awful looking room....

Rick what a great vacuum. How does it rate compared to a Lux or a Hoover....Oh that's right...It is a Universal! Why would I ask...

That was no accident!

What was that guy REALLY selling? The overdone frou frou is a turnoff in any room, but decorating is such a personal thing, unless you get a decorator and do something safe.

Rick, I know your thing about attatchments, but no cleaner should go without. LOL

My favorite vacuum format - the Cylinders.
