Last week I reluctanly hired a cleaning lady to come in and clean for me. I decided to use the same company that four of my neighbors use. I request one of my vacuums, however, upon stopping home in the afternoon I discovered that she was using shinny new Garry Vac, First impression were that the vacuum was a piece of junk, loud, and surrounded by a cloud of dust. Upon looking at my carpets that was easily confirmed. The nap was not lifted at all, the carpet lines that I love to see were non existent, and it may or may not have actually torn the carpet. Which got me to wondering if any of these "informercial vacs" actually worked. (Although I know Hoover use to run the informercials for the Windtunnel) So I went to Bed Bath and Beyond and picked up a new Shark Navigator. I have been very impressed with the Navigator.

I was also wondering if any of you have tried any "informercial" vacs or "gimmicky" type vacs and what you thought of them.

I have two Orecks, good vacuums but i almost never use them. Then I have a carpet broom called the One Sweep that is a total rip off unless you work your butt off for hours.

I own a Shark Navigator I Luv it!Very Good Vacuum!

Hi Everybody,New here & My name is Dave I live in Canada.I own the Shark infinity Navigator Vacuum,I just luv this little machine, best vacuum I have ever owned so far!I know it's made in China blah blah, but for a Chinese made product this one is really Good for a "As Seen On TV" Vacuum it really does live up to it's claim "never loses suction"!I used to own a three year old Bissell Heathy Home Upright very good machine but very heavy 23 pounds! For me to lug this vacuum up a flight of stairs to clean upstairs was chore in itself! The Heathy Home was a great machine as I thought it was cleaning my home very well, but when I purchased this Navigator from Canadian Tire for only $149.99 CAD on sale of course from $199.99.The first time I tried this little 15 pound vacuum I was shocked as to how much my Bissell was missing?I had to empty the dirt bin six times before I finished cleaning my storey & half home because I own two cats one long haired the other is short haired. My Bissell would always leave the long haired cat's fur wrapped around the brush roll not this Shark it pulled everything in!I too always found the Bissell was heavy in the handle & get a sore shoulder when cleaning with it too.Plus the Bissell was mainly designed for larger homes with wall to wall carpeting that is where that machine would really have an advantage! So I sold the Bissell to purchase this Navigator & I do not regret it!I have never cleaned my home so fast, easy & throughly as I do with this vacuum. The vacuum maneuvers around so easy it turns on dime & to under furniture is breeze with the optional extended reach kit that can be purchased through the website (see link). With the extended reach kit you get an extra wand, extension hose, extra dusting brush & real horse floor tool,I wish my Bissell have the option to purchase accessories like these worth every penny only $29.95 US plus S&H!The dirt bin is very easy to empty & maintaining the unit is very convenient! The vacuum comes with extra filters so when it is time to clean the used ones which you just wash in warm water & let dry 24 hours before use also clean out the 21 cyclone chamber so easy just tap on the side of a garbage can gently or vacuum out with another vacuum if have an extra one to use. Replace the fresh new filters in the filter cartridge below the dirt bin & away you go.Also another plus is NO Hepa Filters to replace,my Bissell's filter was $29.99 CAD to replace every 6 months. The only negative I found with this machine is you must keep the hose in the lower hose hook of the unit when using the attachments without the extended hose,if not the vacuum tends to tip over very easy so I just hold the hose half way down to keep it in there. It also lives up to the claim of the one pass cleaning I was so amazed with the powerhead turned off (oh yes it is a two motor system),that it would pick up the cat's litter from their litter box in one pass.I have owned this vacuum now for a year & no major problems so far except the mini turbo head I had to have replaced because they used such cheap bearings in it!Their Customer service though is something left to be desired, when I called them about the problem with the turbo head they wanted me to pay $21.95 US for a new one when the vacuum has a 5 year warranty. So I reminded them about that, then in 2 weeks it was replaced, plus when phoning the call center it feels like you are calling India or something?I would strongly recommend getting their service center's email address to address any problems with the vacuum in the future & scan a copy of your original sales receipt to attachment the email. It just makes things easier when dealing with their customer service.Well with all of that said, believe me you will no be disappointed with this vacuum otherwise.Excellent product especially from Shark! Thanks so much,

Dave

Cleaning Lady Junk...

vacman117's profile picture
Our cleaning lady uses Orecks. She has a commercial one, and a 2800. An Oreck "Super" Canister as well I believe. The previous, "Merry Maids", I think that was it, used them as well, except they said "Merry Maids" were Oreck would have been, on the bag. They also used Hoover Portapowers. After discovering that their Orecks did not work on our shag, they just used our old Hoover Fusion.
