Wow Hans, that's a beautiful tan G. I love the soft purr of its motor. It really is overall, I think, the most elegant of all the Electroluxes with its understated color scheme. If you ever get tired of it, you know where to send it, hahaha!

Oh my Hans, that Electrolux G is breathtaking to say the least. IMHO that was Electrolux at its finest!!!! Congratulations.

Terry

Ok you should stop these pics now!

I'll warn you, some of us may want to break into your house and snatch the appliances if you keep this up! Showing us pics of your house only helps us map it out to make an easier entrance. LOL

Seriously sweet collection you have there.

Alex

Scent of Electrolux

I bought an identical tan G on Ebay a few years ago. It wasn't used very much. When I do use it, and I just did this evening for the first time in months, it has a peculiar odor--not unpleasant. It smells new, actually. I wonder if yours also has such an odor. Perhaps the person I bought it from had had it lubricated, or maybe it is just that "new vacuum" scent. The funny thing is it smells exactly like our new Hoover Slimline did around 1970-ish. Anyone have any ideas about the scents of vacuums?

Beautiful G, Hans!

I agree with Charles, I've always loved the G, think it's my favorite Electrolux! First G I ever saw was in 1965 when my uncle was selling them. He did a demo when we spent Christmas with them that year and I even got to run it, as well as the model 66 Airway that my aunt owned at the time.
And Jay, I know what you mean about vacuum scents, I've brought up that subject before myself. I've noticed it with Hoover Constellations. At first I thought it was just my Grandma's 82 Connie, but my 858 and even my new Connie, and anyone else's Connie I have ever run, all have a scent to them. As you said, it's a peculiar odor, but not unpleasant.

Wow, the Hamilton Beach is very different - a square swiveltop?

scents....

It is funny, but it does seem most old vacs have a distinctive scent,,as for where I get my vacs, many club members have given me different ones ,if I had ever machine I have ever had it would be around 300 or so,several years ago a lost job and some bad management on my part forced me to get rid of a lot of stuff, but now things are back on a solid footing, and my collection is somewhere around 100 machines or so, some I have had a long time, some only a few years, but as you can tell, most of my stuff is unique or odd,im really surprised that no one commented on the Hamilton Beach as I think it is one of my rarest machines, and the Electrolux is fairly common, but im glad others enjoy seeing these machines,im going to put some more on in the coming days, since the Lux got so many raves,I will try to put on my A E A F turquoise G and Hospital G,I also have a R and a few Ls of different colors.

Hans,

I love the Hamilton Beach. It is very unusual and the color...typical for that time frame.

Pat, where are you????

I am surprised he has not commented on the Hamilton Beach...

Your model G....well...almost perfect! One of the best vacuums ever made.

Morgan

I too like the Hamoltom-Beach. Even the click-locks are like that of GE. Does it sound like a Swivel-top?

No

The H.B. built motor sounds more like a Lamb but not exactly.

I Like The Hamilton Beach, Too!

And I remember seeing that model in catalogs when I was a kid. I used to think it looked like one of the vaporizors you used when your sinuses were stuffed up!
Yours is absolutely beautiful, looks like new, and I like the color a lot better than the yellow ones.

Your right Jeff! I was thinking the same thing when I saw it the other night!
Also I forgot to mention about the "smell" of some vacuums. I used to have 2 Connies that smelled the same. And the Lux I found a few months ago smells the same as the Lux my grandma had years ago. I turned it on and couldn't belive it. It was like an instant dejavu.(?spelling)

What a fantastic looking tan G. I too have one that looks as if it was never used; not a single scratch on the body, and the bag chamber smells "new". When I use it, I get that distinctive smell as well.

Please do post more pictures of your Electroluxes. You have a great collection.
