I was in Phoenix a couple weekends ago and found this metal base Eureka in a Mesa thrift store. Never have seen one like this before. I thought the hood had been painted but it has not...the orange is the original color. I am sure the bag is not original.
It has a Vibra-groomer brushroll.
Can anyone give me an idea as to it's age?
Roger

The red boxed "E" next to the block letters for EU

can give you a bit of a time frame. That kind of Eureka corporate sighanture was used from about 1970 to 1983/84. My 1982 Dial-A-Nap is almost identical except for the colours and the headlight. So I would place this orange commercial version about the same time. 1980-1984 would be the window.

Does it have edge cleaning channels on the bottom plate? If it doesnt its pre-1974. The curve/angle of the handle grip and the design of the rear wheels are other indicators.

Good-looking machine. Has the finish on the main casting been restored in any way?

Beautiful machine Roger, thanks for sharing it with us!! Have to agree with you, that bag just doesn't work with the orange.

Roger,

Wonderful find. Eureka made a great vacuum. I think you may be able to still order the orange bag at Hesco...I will check later today.

Its different for sure, But the bag though not original, Its no to bad. But I would try to find a closer match lol. Mabe even one of the gray Sanitare bags if the orange is NLA. Just my pennies =).

We found this at a Goodwill of all places...one that never has any vacs. The one on Main in Mesa-just east of Stapley Rd I think.
Morgan,
Thanks for checking on the orange bag. I may have to put a grey one on it..which would be ok too.
This does have edge cleaning channels so it is newer than '74.
I don't think it was used commercially because it was too clean for a commercial machine.
Thank you all for the info on it.
Roger

I sent

you an email about the bag Roger. They no longer make an orange Eureka bag. Not even in a bojack bag. The only colors available now are Red and Gray. Just writing this in case you did not receive the emails. I can sell you a new gray bag.

Another great find in the thrifts - I love the orange!

You've talked about how different these are than the later plastic models but it has to be experienced to be believed! I love my all-metal Sanitaire!
