I guess thats what comes of being in the business :) Does it work OK? Like many of these Hoovers it is likely to last for ages. Its roots lie in the US model 50, although stricly based on the cheaper version model 40, although the handle of the 402 is more in line (although not identical to) the model 50 Here is mine |

Examples of the range development from begninning to end, 402 to the rear and 427 at the front. I have often wondered why the US continued with Model 50 variations after 1953 when the sucessor model 417 was introduced - thats the one in from of the 402. Jack had an interesting picture on his site which showed two Hoover models given to the Queen (then Princess Elizabeth) as a wedding present showing a 160 and a 402, with apparently chromed ends. This would have been a very special cleaner as this was in 1947 where the 402 was not introduced till 1948. |
