My dual 80 makes a whine like squeal on wind down. I thought it may have been the brushroll bearings, so I turned the be;t lifter off. This made the squeal louder. I don't know a lot about motors so I'm scared it may be the motor bearings. Although, one thing I noticed is the fan spindle has a little bit of play in it. I thought this may be the problem because in use, if the nozzle is lifted off the ground, I hear the squeal. I just hope its not motor bearings. Please, I am desperate to know what the problem is. Any information/advice is greatly appreciated!!!

I work on kirby's and It sounds like your front bearing is worn out because of the age of the machine this is common. You can do two things, first you can get the bearing and its plate replaced the parts are available from Hesco or Kirby.Or you can purchase a rebuilt motor unit if you don't like working on machines. I have a very nice rebuilt motor unit in my ebay store new2youvacuums that is on sale. If you need to talk to me my phone number is 520-742-4885.
