I saw this over the shoulder of another passenger on the bus tonight.

Note: The online news article features a stock photo of the 'Junior 375'.

The actual photo in the paper was of a 'Senior cleaner' similar to Jack's 'Hoover 575' Youtube video, but with one significant difference: I am sure the photo featured a cleaner that had, instead of a triangular badge on the cleaner head, a rectangular label in its place.

The fellow was pictured with the cleaner, as well as a hand-operated bellows stick cleaner.

ON the Express link posted I like how someone has commented at the bottom: Clearly a Dyson owner!

What about the drive belt; surely that needed replacing?

...oh and the grey bag on it is old but isn't original, pretty sure of that!

...but having said that, it's a circa 1929 cleaner that still works..and I have some idea, since I've got three 575s.

Stephen I know you have older cleaners than this in working order, Jack also, Mike as well and even though I kind of set myself a lower age limit with the Hoover 160 I reckon my Lux V and possibly Tellus are older than this and in working order

Yes Al and I can't believe that he's not had to replace the carbon brushes in the motor at some stage!

Mind you, to give him some credit, there's probably not many people out there who can say that they've got a machine , which has been in regular use for 81 years. I have so many machines that it's impossible to use them all on a regular basis, added to which some are recent aquisitions.

Mr Whitwam now apparently has a collection of vacuums, so does mean that his 575 is still in regular use?

Here's one of my working 575s. The bag's not original and not made by Hoover, though it's in good condition and performs well.

Note the Hotpoint

I spy a Hotpoint Junior in the background that needs some TLC!

Here's another early one..

I'm unsure of the make of this early cylinder machine but it's very similar to a brass Trojan model, which I also own
